Hailing from a small town in New Jersey, Gen Dietzel creates music for the underdog, for the loner, for the person who, no matter how hard they try, cannot sit at the table with the cool kids--because she has been there. She uses her music to express her experiences with mental illness while living in a world that increasingly demonizes these experiences and feelings in order to shed light on the fact that no one struggles alone.
She uses her music to express that experiencing the trials and tribulations that come along with being human, is normal and valid, and that we, as a society, shouldn’t hide from feeling things in full because it’s a beautiful thing to turn life into art.
She is actively trying to rejuvenate rock, putting women at the forefront of the movement. She frequently plays local clubs & is well known on social media for her outspoken, empowering and accepting views.
When she is not making music, she is either writing poetry or contributing to Affinity Magazine's main site or their culture site for music related stories.
