A group of misfit young adults find strength in their connection to one another as they navigate the pitfalls and failings of a for-profit upscale psychiatric facility.

After a suicide attempt, Olivia finds herself in an upscale residential mental health facility, Warm Horizons. While she initially hopes to be the perfect patient, she quickly notices that the facility isn’t as committed to healing as it claims to be. Olivia tries to seek healing with her fellow patients, despite the staff’s best attempts to keep them numb and complacent.

Therefore I Am is a feature-length screenplay that examines the exploitive nature of mental healthcare, hyper-individualism, and thhe importance of community, accountability, and forgiveness.
